Time out for everyone to re-energise and relax with a host of aligning and absorbing activities and workshops, all found in the soulful Studio 50 Fields.
Rag Rug Brooches
Create your own vibrant brooch using traditional Rag Rug techniques, Suffolk puffs and buttons. This craft uses almost entirely recycled fabrics and there will be a great variety of incredible and coloured fabrics, so you can make something that will match your outfit perfectly. All the techniques learnt in this workshop can easily be transferred to making an actual rug. Suitable for anybody twelve years and over.
Learn how to get the most out of marbling inks and how to create beautifully patterned paper and card. Working with a variety of different colours and techniques to create interesting patterns, you can then turn them into notebooks, bunting and more. Suitable for any age but children under the age of eight should be supervised by an adult.
Darn It Workshops
Come and learn the basics of hat making, and design and make a hat, headdress or fascinator. Materials are provided but you are invited to bring any special decorative materials you may have, such as jewellery, fake flowers, small toys/dolls, fake fruit, watches or clocks (for the steampunk lovers!), sequins or feathers. The bolder and more surreal the better – think carnival-esque and let your imagination run wild!
Sanatan Yoga will offer a range of yoga sessions and workshops suitable for all abilities. Over the course of the weekend you can experience:
Classic Hatha Yoga Classes
To encourage a fuller experience and deeper practice, classes will last one and a half hours. The class will have the physical postures we’re all familiar with set in a traditional sequence, with several adaptations to suit your ability and body type. You’ll find a focus on doing the basics well and the practice is suitable for everyone. As well as the physical postures, a deep relaxation will be incorporated to help you assimilate and integrate your practice. Everyone will leave refreshed and vitalised, ready to enjoy the festival.
Couples Massage Workshop
By popular demand the massage workshop is back. Indian head massage is a relaxing holistic treatment that uses acupressure massage on the head, face, neck and shoulders. It aims to rebalance your body’s energies by working on the top three chakras. In this workshop you will learn the basic techniques plus a few intimacy exercises thrown in for good measure. It’s great fun and suitable for everyone. Come with a partner, or we can find one for you.
Getting more into the festival vibe this year, a funky world music playlist will be unleashed on Farmfest’s party people! What better way to warm up for a night of dancing than by getting fully present in your body, stretching out the cobwebs, and dancing to some fantastic music. The yoga dance session will have elements of a traditional yoga class set to great global sounds. Once warmed up you will enter the free movement stage and dance like nobody’s watching.
Come and shake the cobwebs away in this Latin-inspired dance fitness class. No experience required, just lots of energy!
Create your own festival ‘no sew tutu’ using only reclaimed materials. No sewing required (obviously!)
A fun-filled and rewarding badge-making workshop where you can design and make your own pin-badge sized badges. Or you can choose a design from a template and use the badge-making machine to create your badge from the image.
